Membership

Lake City Cycling Club is a Burnaby based non-profit club welcoming cyclists of all levels. Our mission is to engage riders by offering support and training to help them achieve their cycling goals. We have an inclusive membership with ages 20 to 70+. Our priority is safe, enjoyable rides promoting fitness and fun for everyone.

Structure

Our goal is to help you find cycling to be your inspiration. Whether you are starting off as a C level rider or an experienced A level rider, we are a supportive group and will help with your cycling goals. All of our rides are no drop rides.

Our groups range in skill and speed:

  • A riders, 30km/hr or greater

  • B riders, 23-27km/hr

  • C riders, 23km/hr or less

Membership price

Our 2024 membership fee is $200 (valid from January 1 - December 31, 2024).

For insurance purposes, a Cycling BC license is required to become a club member and the cost of this license is NOT included in our membership fee. If you do not currently have a valid Cycling BC license, you will be prompted to purchase once during the registration process. The Cycling BC membership will be added to your transaction and noted as a separate line item on your receipt.

Note that if you are new to the club, regardless of your level, you’ll need to do a ride assessment at the season's start and may be required to participate in our "Learn to Ride" training for a small fee, before joining the larger group rides. Our priority is safe, enjoyable rides promoting fitness and fun for everyone.

Saturday rides and Tuesday training

LC3 hosts structured outdoor weekly rides on Tuesday evenings. Saturday mornings hone bikes skills.

Our Tuesday rides are instructed by individuals holding NCCP accreditation; cycling professionals who bring years of training and competitive experiences. These sessions normally start at the Christine Sinclair Community Centre in Burnaby. Workouts vary from long and moderate efforts to short and harder efforts to build aerobic fitness.

Saturday morning group rides normally start at the Christine Sinclair Community Centre in Burnaby. Regardless of level, these rides are no drop.

Saturday rides are all about group riding skills and etiquette. We focus on longer distance rides starting at 50 and going to over 100 km. Our goal is to strike a balance between bringing people together on the road in a fun and safe environment and to improve cycling skills, fitness, endurance & knowledge through rides with our experienced and encouraging group leaders.

Destinations are determined each week by our ride leaders and factor in seasonal fitness. Group rides typically include a coffee break with an appropriate amount of socializing, as determined by your ride group.
